Self-labelling as an introvert boxes you in, and lets others do it too
Lana stopped saying she is an introvert after audiences began policing the label, questioning why an introvert was posting stories of dinner with friends. She names two costs: you start acting in accordance with the label, and other people start enforcing it. She still makes content about introversion because learning about it relieved her of feeling like a weird person, but she now says she is introverted rather than an introvert, treating it as a spectrum nobody sits at the end of.
“and I think that can be the danger of self-labeling. You feel like okay I have this label I am this or that so I…”
“So I still do it but I don't say I am an introvert. I'm like I'm introverted cuz like it's a spectrum and no one…”
